Women Centred Housing Toolkit

The BC Society of Transition Houses enhances services that respond to and prevent violence against women, children, and youth. They asked us to design a user-friendly online version of their Women Centred Housing Design Toolkit that would support a wide range of professionals working in housing and community care.

The challenge was to translate a large volume of evolving content into a clean, intuitive, and mobile-friendly format—on a fixed timeline and budget.

What Needed Work

As the toolkit was being written and refined, we needed to remain flexible and responsive. Content, structure, and navigation all shifted during the project. The goal was to keep the site easy to use, even as it grew in complexity.

How We Helped

We collaborated closely with BCSTH to build a digital toolkit that is clear, accessible, and visually grounded in care.

• Simplified, intuitive navigation
The site structure guides users logically through a wide array of topics and content types.

• Custom illustrations and flexible templates
Designed to reflect the tone of the work and keep the toolkit visually engaging without distraction.

• Clear typographic hierarchy
Long-form content is easy to scan and digest, even on mobile.

• Indexing and cross-linking
Smart linking strategies connect key ideas and help users find what they need quickly.

Where They Landed.

The Women Centred Housing Toolkit is now an accessible, mobile-optimized resource that supports informed decision-making in the housing sector. It stands as a strong extension of BCSTH’s mission and values – delivered on time and on budget.

We worked with ITS to create a website for a housing design guideline project at our non profit organization. As we had some vision for this project, ITS was very flexible to hear our ideas and reflected them in the website. They also provided us with creative solutions and graphics, all strengthening the work. They also were very patient and efficient with the revisions and saved some hours for us to improve the website after it was launched. I highly recommend working with their professional team for your web and design work.
